What changes

The differences, each one checkable against Rewind Backups’s own docs.

Rewind: cannot back up

Page Builder, fully protected

Widgets, widget templates, custom layout files, product, category and brand page designs, the homepage and the global region, captured per channel and restored in the exact order BigCommerce requires. Rewind's docs list widgets and “theme customizations made in the style customization panel (including page builder widgets)” as items it cannot back up or restore.

Rewind: cannot back up

Store settings and shipping

22 settings sections backed up (profile, locale, currencies, SEO, robots.txt, security, search, analytics, email statuses, shipping zones and methods) with the core sections restorable. Rewind's docs list both store settings and shipping data as items it cannot back up or restore.

Beyond Rewind's list

Point-in-time restore

Pick any timestamp and RollbackPro rebuilds each data type to exactly that moment, working out which items existed, which had changed and which were deleted. Bulk restores show live progress, can be cancelled, and failed records can be retried on their own.

Beyond Rewind's list

The whole commerce perimeter

Coupons, promotions, email templates, channels, gift certificates and 301 redirects, plus product depth Rewind does not list: custom fields, bulk pricing rules, modifiers, reviews, videos and channel assignments.

Rewind: MSF not supported

Multi-storefront native

Every channel gets its own webhook coverage, its own settings capture and its own Page Builder sweep. Rewind's docs list Multi-Storefront (MSF) resources among the items it cannot back up or restore; RollbackPro backs up each storefront as itself.

Beyond Rewind's list

Smart resurrection

A deleted page or product gets a new ID when it is recreated, so RollbackPro re-resolves it by URL, name or SKU, re-links variants by option names, and re-attaches the Page Builder design that BigCommerce cascade-deleted along with it.

Its documentation lists products, inventory, categories, brands, options, customers, orders, gift certificates, price lists, web pages, blog posts, 301 redirects, Stencil theme files and metadata among what it captures. It also lists what it cannot: Page Builder widgets and style-panel theme customisations, store settings, shipping data, and Multi-Storefront (MSF) resources. Per Rewind's Restoring Your Data FAQ, account-level restorations are automatic only for Shopify and QuickBooks Online; for BigCommerce they trigger a manual data request handled by Rewind Support.

The fine print

  • Themes: Rewind backs up and restores Stencil theme files; RollbackPro currently captures theme configuration metadata only. Blueprint (legacy) themes cannot be backed up by anyone, as BigCommerce provides no API access.
  • Price lists: RollbackPro backs up and restores price list definitions; the per-SKU tiered price records are not yet captured. Rewind lists price lists as backed up.
  • Orders: Both products archive orders. BigCommerce's API keeps most order fields read-only, so treat order backup as an archive rather than an undo, whichever vendor you choose.
  • Images: On BigCommerce, restore of product imagery on either product depends on the original image URL still resolving.
  • Metadata: Rewind's article lists “Metadata” as backed up, without detail on which resources; RollbackPro does not currently capture BigCommerce metafields.
  • Outside both products (BigCommerce API limits): Scripts, product digital files, email subscribers, shared variant options, V2 option-set complex rules, and third-party app data.
  • Full-store restores at Rewind: Per Rewind's Restoring Your Data FAQ, account-level restorations are automatic only for Shopify and QuickBooks Online; for BigCommerce they trigger a manual data request handled by Rewind Support. RollbackPro's point-in-time and bulk restores run self-serve with live progress.

When RollbackPro is the better fit

Where RollbackPro helps, and where Rewind for BigCommerce still shines.

Your storefront is built in Page Builder. Rewind's documentation lists widgets and style-panel theme customisations among the items it cannot back up or restore; RollbackPro captures them per channel and replays them in the order BigCommerce requires.

You run more than one storefront. Multi-Storefront (MSF) resources are on Rewind's cannot-back-up list; RollbackPro gives every channel its own webhook coverage, settings capture and Page Builder sweep.

Store settings and shipping configuration are part of what you would need back. Both are on Rewind's cannot-back-up list; RollbackPro backs up 22 settings sections plus shipping zones and methods.

You need to recover without raising a ticket. Per Rewind's Restoring Your Data FAQ, BigCommerce account-level restorations are a manual data request handled by Rewind Support; RollbackPro's point-in-time and bulk restores run self-serve with live progress.

Rewind is the stronger choice on two counts today: it backs up and restores Stencil theme files, where RollbackPro captures theme configuration metadata only, and it lists price lists as backed up, where RollbackPro captures list definitions but not the per-SKU tiered price records.
