Vortex IQ vs Rewind
Rewind sells Shopify staging and Shopify backup as two apps, a store-clone testing environment (Rewind Staging) and automated backup and restore (Rewind Backups). Vortex IQ includes staging, backup and rollback as part of one cross-stack AI operating platform.
Two Shopify-only apps from the same company: Rewind Staging clones a store as a sandbox for testing apps, code and theme changes, and Rewind Backups automatically backs up store data and restores it on demand.
Full description
Rewind Staging creates a copy of a Shopify store as a sandbox for testing apps, custom code and theme changes before deploying them live, supporting unlimited copies and ongoing sync on up to 100,000 products. Rewind Backups automatically backs up store data (products, themes, collections, customer data and metafields) and restores it on demand, with a 365-day backup history; its Protection Suite plan adds uptime monitoring, QA testing and bulk-change alerts. Both are Shopify-only apps built by the same company.

Where an operating layer helps, and where Rewind still shines.
You run on more than one platform. Rewind Staging and Rewind Backups are Shopify-only; Vortex IQ works the same way across BigCommerce, Shopify, Adobe Commerce and WooCommerce.
Your order volume is past a few hundred a month. Rewind's Protection Suite pricing rises with monthly order count, reaching $669/month at 5,001-10,000 orders on Rewind's own pricing page (checked 2 August 2026), before custom pricing above that.
A restore needs to bring inventory back with it. By Rewind's own account, inventory tracking and quantities are not part of a Rewind restore, and the product comes back untracked.
Your Files library (images, video, 3D models) needs to survive a restore. Rewind's own knowledge base states Files manager content is not backed up.
You want one operating layer that also detects and diagnoses problems, not only stores and restores data. Rewind Staging is a genuinely solid, purpose-built tool for its own job, cloning and testing a Shopify store, and can be the right standalone choice for a merchant who only needs that.
