Vortex IQ vs Rewind

Rewind sells Shopify staging and Shopify backup as two apps, a store-clone testing environment (Rewind Staging) and automated backup and restore (Rewind Backups). Vortex IQ includes staging, backup and rollback as part of one cross-stack AI operating platform.

What Rewind is: Rewind Staging creates a copy of a Shopify store as a sandbox for testing apps, custom code and theme changes before deploying them live, supporting unlimited copies and ongoing sync on up to 100,000 products. Rewind Backups automatically backs up store data (products, themes, collections, customer data and metafields) and restores it on demand, with a 365-day backup history; its Protection Suite plan adds uptime monitoring, QA testing and bulk-change alerts. Both are Shopify-only apps built by the same company.
Side by side

Vortex IQ vs Rewind, on the facts.

Dimension
Vortex IQ
Rewind
What it is
An AI Operating System for e-commerce: staging, backup and rollback are native parts of one cross-stack operating layer that also detects issues, diagnoses root cause and executes approval-gated fixes.
Two separate Shopify apps from the same company: Rewind Staging (a store-clone testing environment) and Rewind Backups (automated backup and restore), each with its own plan and price.
Platforms
Cross-stack across BigCommerce, Shopify, Adobe Commerce (Magento) and WooCommerce.
Shopify only, for both Rewind Staging and Rewind Backups.
Inventory on restore
Inventory levels, tracking settings, cost-per-item and weight fields are part of a restore.
Rewind's own knowledge base states it "is not yet able to backup and/or restore product inventory" and related fields (weight, cost per item, the "Track quantity" setting), due to Shopify API restrictions; a restored product comes back untracked.
Files (images, video, 3D models)
The Files library is included in staging and backup.
Per Rewind's own knowledge base, Files manager content (3D models, external videos, generic files, media images and videos) is not backed up; the field is cleared so a restore can complete. Rewind notes it can help recreate this content manually on request.
Staging
Staging is a native part of the platform: every fix and restore can be routed through staging for review before it reaches the live store.
Rewind Staging is a dedicated, well-reviewed app for exactly this: cloning a store for testing, syncing ongoing changes and deploying to live. On its own terms it does the staging job.
Automation and detection
Continuously detects issues across the stack, diagnoses root cause and turns findings into ranked, approval-gated fixes.
No AI or detection layer described on either app's public listing. Protection Suite adds monitoring and alerts on top of backup, but as notifications, not a diagnose-and-fix loop.
Pricing at scale
Priced by platform tier, not by monthly order count, so a growing store doesn't face a step-function price jump as order volume rises.
Rewind Backups and Protection Suite (which bundles staging, up to 10 test stores) are both priced per average monthly order volume. Protection Suite lists at $99/month up to 600 orders, then rises with volume: $139 (601-1,000), $189 (1,001-1,500), $339 (1,501-2,000), $389 (2,001-3,000), $509 (3,001-5,000), $669 (5,001-10,000), then custom pricing above 10,000, per Rewind's own pricing page, checked 2 August 2026. Rewind's pricing has changed before and may change again, so re-verify before quoting a specific tier.

When Vortex IQ is the better fit

Where an operating layer helps, and where Rewind still shines.

You run on more than one platform. Rewind Staging and Rewind Backups are Shopify-only; Vortex IQ works the same way across BigCommerce, Shopify, Adobe Commerce and WooCommerce.

Your order volume is past a few hundred a month. Rewind's Protection Suite pricing rises with monthly order count, reaching $669/month at 5,001-10,000 orders on Rewind's own pricing page (checked 2 August 2026), before custom pricing above that.

A restore needs to bring inventory back with it. By Rewind's own account, inventory tracking and quantities are not part of a Rewind restore, and the product comes back untracked.

Your Files library (images, video, 3D models) needs to survive a restore. Rewind's own knowledge base states Files manager content is not backed up.

You want one operating layer that also detects and diagnoses problems, not only stores and restores data. Rewind Staging is a genuinely solid, purpose-built tool for its own job, cloning and testing a Shopify store, and can be the right standalone choice for a merchant who only needs that.
